CITRIC ACID POWDER (FOOD GRADE)
Citric acid powder (E330) is the most widely used organic acid and pH-control agent in the food and beverage industry. As a naturally occurring fruit acid, It is frequently used in gelatins, jams, ice cream, baked goods and confectionery.
Biocels citric acid powder is odourless and with a strongly acidic taste, with citric acid anhydrous and monohydrate occurring as colourless crystals or a white, crystalline powder.
CITRIC ACID POWDER (FOOD GRADE)
Product Benefits
Citric acid anhydrous and monohydrate are fully biodegradable and can be disposed of with regular waste or sewage according to local legislation. They are slightly deliquescent in moist air, very soluble in water, freely soluble in ethanol (96%) and sparingly soluble in ether. Other characteristics of citric acid anhydrous and monohydrate include non-toxicity and low reactivity.

Application | Citric acid is the most widely used organic acid and pH-control agent used in the food and beverage industry today. A naturally occurring fruit acid, citric acid (C6H8O7) is produced commercially by microbial fermentation of a carbohydrate substrate. In soft drinks, teas, juices, and other beverages, citric acid delivers a flavour-enhancing and sweetness-balancing effect. It’s also frequently used as an emulsifying agent, chelating agent and a general purpose food flavouring agent; plus, because many bacteria are unable to grow in an acidic environment, C6H8O7 is often added to sauces, jams, meat products and canned foods as a preservative. Additional Information | Citric acid is slightly hygroscopic → In its monohydrate form, citric acid is more hygroscopic than in its anhydrous form → Monohydrate citric acid is, therefore, more prone to caking than the anhydrous form. Biocel’s premium quality food and brewing ingredients range is supplied to several of Ireland’s leading food processors. Custom blends of Biocel food and beverage ingredients, in both liquid and powder forms, are available on request. If required, Biocel will prepare liquid or powder ingredients in exact batch sizes to meet your needs. |
Storage | Chemically stable if stored at ambient temperatures. |
Safety | Food grade citric acid should be stored at room temperature in tightly-sealed containers away from extreme conditions. Please click on the link to request a Biocel safety datasheet. If you have any queries, please contact us. |
