Milk Processing Plant Caustic Cleaner

Lactrin is a caustic soda based liquid detergent for use in cleaning in place systems. It can penetrate soil rapidly, which makes it particularly suitable in CIP systems within the food and milk processing industries. Biocel’s Lactrin combines a blend of caustic, sequestrants, crystal deformations agents, descalers and deposit inhibitors. The resultant Lactrin solution has a sequestering capacity of 10g/L of concentrate.

Product Benefits

The presence of acrylic polymer crystal deformation coordination compounds ensures calcium carbonate entering the system from hard rinse water will not scale the clean plant during the rinsing process (traces of sodium hydroxide persist and tend to precipitate carbonate blooms).

  • Scale and deposit inhibition properties at high levels of dilution in hard rinse water.
  • May be dosed by conductivity probe monitoring and suitable metering pumps.
  • 0.25% - 0.3% w/v NaOH lines & tanks @ 80°C.
  • 0.5% - 0.8% w/v NaOH on pasteurisers/separators @ 80°C.

Lactrin is a caustic soda based liquid detergent for use in cleaning-in-place (CIP).

Due to its ability to penetrate soil rapidly, Lactrin is particularly suitable in CIP systems within the food and milk processing industries.

Effective at a wide range of operating temperatures, Lactrin benefits from a very wide range of applications, most notably its use in automatic cleaning of separators, PHEs, cheese and casein plants.
Hot and Cold usage – may be circulated up to 85°C

Food Processing

Both temperature and usage rate vary depending on the level of soil present and plant operating conditions. Biocel Ltd technical staff will be pleased to deal with any of your technical queries.

Additional Information

Variations on the original Lactrin have been developed to suit specific plant requirements. This range offers blends with added caustic, surfactants and antifoams. For example Lactrin N is formulated for use in hard water areas. Please ask your sales agent for more details.
Sterilisation occurs due to the pH and high-temperature combination but Lactrin does not contain a sterilant per se.

Recommended storage temperature: 5°C
