COPPER PACKING AND MESH CLEANING
Traditional methods of cleaning copper employ organic acids. These are only partially effective and allow an oxide layer to remain on the surface, thus reducing the adsorptive capacity of the metal. Biocel has developed a unique process for the regeneration of fouled copper packing. Copper is a key component in the removal of ethyl carbamate and mercaptans from the spirit vapour stream. These entities are generated within the fermentation process following the metabolism of amino acids by yeasts.
COPPER PACKING AND MESH CLEANING
Product Benefits
DISTILLATION COLUMN COPPER PACKING AND MESH CLEANING
- Superior to traditional treatments.
Traditionally copper packing resided in the still until depleted. Such erosion of the copper surfaces leads to a diminution of adsorptive capacity of the copper packing with concomitant passing of odiferous volatiles into the spirit thus masking the preferred flavour of the spirit.
- Extend life-time of packing.
Regular cleaning of the copper packing or mesh allows exposure of fresh virgin surface to the vapour stream enhancing the adsorption of volatiles. This removes the corrosive salts that etch into the copper surface extending and enhancing the effective working life of the copper packing or mesh thus generating overall lifetime savings. This treatment returns the packing to its near virgin state.
