The Karl McCarthy Memorial Prize 2019 was presented to Ms Elle Roche at The School of Nutritional Sciences Awards Ceremony held at The Devere Hall U.C.C. This event recognises and celebrates the achievements of students and staff and is proudly sponsored by Biocel Ltd.
What is the Karl McCarthy Memorial Prize?
The Karl Mccarthy Prize proudly recognizes the close association of the late Dr Karl McCarthy and the brewing sectors in Ireland and the U.K. Karl McCarthy was a Brewing Chemist and a Former International Cyclist. On the 20th of May 1966, he was elected and admitted as a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry. Shortly after, on the 7th of July 1966, he set up Biocel. It wasn’t long before Biocel was to establish itself as the leading supplier of Products to the Irish Brewing and Dairy Sectors.
Our prize is awarded annually to the student who obtains the highest mark in module FS4006 in Food Science.
