History

Since Biocel's foundation in 1966, the company has gone on to become one of the most important suppliers of Biochemical and Chemical process aids and Additives to a variety of industries across Ireland, continually at the forefront of innovation in sectors such as Brewing, Dairy Hygiene and Processing, Construction, Water Treatment and Food Production, amongst others.

Timeline

  • 1966: The company is founded by Dr. Karl McCarthy on the 7th July 1966, shortly after he was elected and admitted as a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry on the 20th May, 1966.  
  • 1971: Dr. McCarthy toured Japan. He visited companys such as Kirin Beer Company in Takasaki, Gunma, pictured above, to learn of their brewing methods.
  • 1992: Biocel Ltd. is ceritfied under the Quality Management Systems certification IS0:9000, The Worlds leading Quality Management standard.
  • 2013: Biocel Ltd. is certified under the FAMI-QS system, which regulates and controls the hygiene and safety requirements for companies involved with speciality feed ingredients and their mixtures.
  • 2014/2015: Biocel Ltd. installs 10 new bulk storage tanks, increasing the storage and settling capacity of the company by 190,000 Litres.
